Carlos CONRAD, violoncello, was born in Argentina. Following cello studies his early childhood he won the First Prize at a competition of the French government which earned him a scholarship in Paris with Andre Navarra, under whom he was awarded his diploma at the Nordwestdeutsche Musikakademie in 1974. In 1977 he co-founded the Swiss Chamber Orchestra (Schweizer Kammerorchester) and has since been the orchestra’s solo cellist, a position he also held in the Basel Symphony Orchestra. He appeared as a soloist with renowned orchestra and if furthermore a sought after chamber musician. A member of the Orion Trio Basel, Conrad plays also with well-known soloist as well as being the duo partner of his wife, the pianist Alicia Conrad. He toured Europe and South America extensively. There are also a number of Radio- and Television features documenting his work.
